Beautifull Beaches in Kerala,India




1)Kovalam :

This internationally renowned beach resort is a favourite haunt of tourists since the 1930's kovalam consists of three adjacent cresent beaches.

The southern most, known as the lighthouse beach, is the most popular of the three. About 14 kms from thiruvananthapuram this is a beautiful beach to relax.





2)Marari Beach :

Marari originates from " Mararikulam ", one of the local fishing villages, where life still goes on much as it did a hundred years ago, with the men going out to sea each day to earn a living bringing in the daily catch.

Completely new to the holiday maker. Marari offers endless miles of superb sand beaches backed by swaying palms, virgin territory where you can experience the local charm and traditional Kerala.



3)The Shanghumukham Beach :

Location : 08 kms from Thiruvanathapuram, this is a favourite haunt of sunset watchers. 

The beach is adjacent to the thiruvananthapuram airport and veli tourist village. 

An indoor recreation club, the matsya kanyaka and a restaurant shaped like a starfish are the major attractions here.


4)Varkala :

Location : 41 kms from Thiruvananthapuram city, Varkala is a seaside resort and spa, as well as an important Hindu centre of pilgrimage.

A quiet, secluded stretch of sand, the Papanasam Beach in Varkala is known for its mineral springs and rocky cliffs.

The 2000 year old Sree Janardhana Swamy Temple and the nature care centre are the two main attractions here.


5)Somatheeram :

15 acres of green garden terraced heights sloping down to the sandy beach stretching to the tranquil, turquoise sea changing colour and mood momentarily as the white clouds sail past over it. This is the perfect beach with a ayurvedic resort for all kind of ayurvedic treatments.


6)The Marari Beach (Mararikulam) :

Right in the heart of the "spice coast" just an hour from Cochin and even less to Alleppey(also Known as Alpuzzha) is the most fabulous stretch of soft sandy beach fringed with palm, an idyllic retreat for those who want to "get away from it all".

7)Kappad :

Location :  About 16 km from Kozhikode town For the people of Kozhikode, this pleasant stretch of rock studded beach is Kappakkadavu. To the tourist it is one of the most charming of Kerala's beaches.

16 kms from Kozhikode (Calicut) (Calicut), this is the historic beach where Vasco-da-Gama landed on the 27th of May 1498, with 170 men in three vessels.

A monument on the beach commemorates this historic event. The rock studded beach is locally known as Kappakadavu.

An interesting feature of the landscape is the sprawling rock that protrudes into the sea. The temple on the rock is believed to be 800 years old.


8) Alappuzha beach :

Alappuzha beach, near Alappuzha town, south Kerala.Referred to as the Venice of the East, Alappuzha has always enjoyed a unique place in the maritime history of Kerala.

9) Cherai Beach :

Location :  Near Vypeen Island accessible by boat (30 minutes journey) from Ernakulam The lovely beach bordering the Vypeen island is ideal for swimming.


10)Valapattanam Beach :

Location :  Valapattanam about 7 km from Kannur town, Kannur district, north Kerala. Attractions: The largest wood-based industry in South East Asia, a beautiful fishing harbor.


11) Payyambalam Beach :

Location : 2 km from Kannur town, Kannur district, north Kerala. Quiet, secluded, this beautiful stretch of sand and surf is the best locale for a relaxed evening.



12) Muzhapilangad Beach :

Location : About 15 km from Kannur and 8 km from Thalasseri, Kannur district, north Kerala. The Muzhapilangad beach which stretches across four kilometres of sand is a drive-in beach.



13)Kappil Beach :

For those who prefer Thoreau to Harold Robbins, the secluded and relatively unexplored Kappil Beach should prove idyllic.


14) Bekal Fort Beach :

Location : About a kilometre from Bekal Fort, about 16 km south of Kasaragod on the national highway, Kasaragod district, north Kerala.



15) Thirumullavaram Beach :

Location : 6 km north of Kollam town about a quiet day far away from the madding crowd If that sounds like something you'd really enjoy, check out the secluded Thirumullavaram Beach.


16) Beypore Beach :

Location : Located about 10 kms south of Kozhikode town at the mouth of the Chaliyar River, is Beypore.

Historically, it has a special place as being one of the prominent ports and fishing harbours.
